(Not sure if this has ever been posted up, did a search on the forum with no results, so here we go!)

Its the winter months and for most in this country, cant get to or for that matter, WANT to go to a salvage yard when the weather is so nasty. Lets get everyone in the fever and treasure hunting mood by posting up past or current G Body finds in yards you may have visited. Someone out there has pictures or a story of something they have/had seen and wish they could take home with them I'm sure, its even happened to me.

No Picture, but will share the story. Was in a local yard and someone had junked a beautiful Oldsmobile Cutlass, it was late 70's (78/79) No rust, shinning paint and NICE interior. Guess the transmission was toast, they wouldn't sell it to me, so I purchased a few parts instead, just a shame to see that!!

They make more money parting it than selling you the entire car. It's also possible there was no title to it, or they didn't care. Some of the older junkyard guys would do it, but today's fast-buck types don't GAF.

Your exactly right. I miss those older yards where people seemed to be truly car enthusiast who ran them, and would gladly do what they could to save an old relic, now its all about quick turn around and a quick buck ran by people who don't give a ****. Gosh I miss those days, those kind of people.

Found a couple of oddballs years ago. Once found an old carb turbo Buick, another time found an MC with strange quarter window delete.

was the quarter window delete covered up by a top of some sort?
I've seen a few examples of G Bodys with the quarter windows welded up. Shaved quarter glass 🤷‍♂️

I've met some of the buyers at auctions and learned, at least in Texas, once the car goes in the jyard it ain't coming out except in pieces due to Texas law marking the title. at least that's the way it was explained to me.

I'm sure the hoops they would have to jump through, seller and buyer alike, a new "reconstructed" title, a mandatory state inspection at a state run facility, its almost not worth it for both parties in todays world.

Focusing on recent finds, a yard in Woodstock IL, just south of the WI border had these so I made the one hour trip. They just posted on FB with a fresh arrival of an El Camino the other day. Not much for older stuff in the yard, mostly newer models.
