hey guys been a while since I've posted, I started working on the 442 again, I've been kicking around what the hell i should do with the AC. i'm torn. on one hand i'd love to keep it and adapt the AC bracket to the 455 olds that's going in and replace all ac components (possibly expensive) on the other I think it would look so much cleaner with either ACdelete.com heater only (which appears to be a PITA to install) or to install a generic flat piece of metal over the HVAC opening. I live on long island so I get a wide spread of temperature but only plan on driving it in the warmer months, it has T-tops as well. it's no race car and i'd like to enjoy it as often as possible, and keeping the AC would be kinda cool in a way but so would ample engine bay room... anyone have opinions? people that have done one or the other and how have they liked it?

Keep it !!! as you get older you will regret deleting it!!!!!

As long as it is off your not going to go any slower!!!!!!

Not to mention all the torque the 455 will be putting out it really wont make a difference if it's on or off.

And definitely DO NOT go the AC/Heater delete plate route.

I am on LI as well and as you know

You NEED a defroster here on LI even in the summer months

I would keep the A/C, even up there in New York. You want the cold evaporator core to dehumidify the air for defrost. No heat or A/C=race car. You could have both. You could go with Vintage Air. That would put everything under the dash. You lose some of the glove box to make room for the unit and I feel it doesn't have the heating/cooling capacity of the OEM system since it is so compact, but I think it is way, way better than nothing. It's not cheap and takes some skill to install. Here is a look at the underhood of my brother's 78 Z28 with an LS swap and Vintage Air. If you have any questions about Vintage Air don't hesitate to ask. On my car, I'm just rebuilding the OEM system, but my engine will be a SBC so it's not as tight as a big block. I personnally never have viewed A/C components as clutter but you pretty much must have it down here to enjoy the car. Keep in mind you will likely hurt the value of your car with no heat or A/C.
