I have an L31 and was thinking about this cam or a lunati one. Interested in how this all turns out.

Stay tuned then the swap is on this coming weekend. I went stock with everything and had the block and heads worked by a machine shop. I only changed the cam after hours of research and debate. Bottom line an L31 as stock would be a tremendous upgrade for the 305. I just wanted the most streetable setup for a long hauler I.E. hot rod power tour.

Well I got sick as heck for over a week but am happy to report I have made the swap! Oh does she run well too! A minor annoyance was the TV cable for the 200-4R as I knew it would be... does not look like I can post a vid but she fired right up and honestly on the road has exceeded my expectations. Set timing and stuck an AFR gauge in the exhaust with an O2 sensor in the pipe and fine tuned the carb... tire fryer...

Also bought the TCC lockup kit from monster since I no longer have ECC and it works decent. Jury out on that only have about 20 miles on her.

Manitowoc wis.
I am on here every day just looking and trying to help. These gen.1 vortecs (96=2002) are easy to work with because everything is almost the same as the millions of other small blocks. BUT these have the good heads. And these are in most junk yards and a lot of people have these under their bench. These can be had for $100-$300 cash and carry. Stroker kits from $800-$$$$ reground cams from $140-$200 new hyd roller cams $300+ Power 350-500 for under $1500. if you can do some of the work your self. Or just get a book and read. Its just a simple small block just like the millions that have been out their since 1955.
