Keeping this open-

Dad was going to tow the car down Friday to me so we can get started getting the chassis ready for the l67 drivetrain (wiring, interior cleaning, bigger fuel pump) but he had issues getting it loaded alone since there's no trans in the car to hold the torque arm and the fenders were falling off, lug nuts were missing, and all that jazz.

But anyways, plan for the car is to make a Firebird GTP.

The red 97 was always in such poor shape body wise, it never made sense to try to make it look good. This 99 chassis is actually decent, and since 4th gen prices are going up and availability is going down, it makes sense to try to make it look the part besides just being decently fast.

So in 01/02 SLP (people who made the Firehawk) had a Firebird GT package that was some stickers and TA takeoff parts (SLP put on 17" GM T/A wheels and factory TA exhaust onto 3800 cars.

Visually this is what I want. The hood decal is mundane and tasteful but something to set aside from a normal 3800 bird. Do some of the stuff SLP did to make a normal 'sport package' y87 Firebird into a 'GT' but add the 'P' supercharger.

A real GTP grand prix has a mild body kit and leather/power seats where this fbird doesnt. if i got snobby to make a firebird gtp (id need the w68 side skirts but i personally find them too much and ugly). The clean base model is just better in my opinion.

Dad towed the black bird down so I can get started wiring and addressing what we need to harvest off the red bird.

North Dakota car so it's cleanish for being a 130k 25yr old car. Much better than the red one was in 2010 when we bought it.

Needs a good scrubbing and a polish but for the price no complaints.

Vaccumed the interior, threw away the left behind clothing, tossed all the loose hardware in a box, and washed the outside.

Kinda plugged some connections back together under the hood, surveyed what's missing and broken and put some of the braking system back together.

Clearly the previous owner was going to try to put a pickup LS in it judging by the 99-06 Silverado fuse box sitting on the passenger seat.

We should be able to do something with the roller no problem.

Just here to restate my Pontiac envy. Can't find a cheap roller out here to save my life.

$1150 delivered to dads house was a deal for sure. No complaints. Not the greatest timing but ya gotta be opportunistic when the situation presents itself.

I spent like 4 years looking casually for a roller and realized they have drastically dried up. Running, beat or slightly wrecked ones are going for $3k+.

As I mentioned I was thinking of doing something else with this drivetrain, but I realized 4th gens are actually getting up there in demand and in 10 years it's probably going to be an in demand car to have. I'm kinda surprised, Its just sitting in the driveway and it seems to get a surprising amount of attention from people driving by.
