Led switchback lights

Hello. I'm in need of help, so I'm reaching out. I have a 1980 malibu that I installed the switchback lights in. Before I changed the flasher, the lights were white, hit the turn signal, solid amber. I replaced the flasher with a ll552 led flasher, and they are not switching between the two when the signal is on or off. They only stay amber.

why not put the origianl flasher back in or if it is defective get an identical flasher

It isn't defective, it just doesn't flash when the signal is on

LED's don't draw enough power to make a standard old school flasher function.

The original one works, it just doesn't make the led bulbs flash

I almost tried the switchbacks, but couldn't figure out how to make it right. I thought white parking lights would look dumb; I wanted DRLs.

Not that I remember. I just know they don't and that's why there are aftermarket electronic flashers.
