So I have a 79 Monte Carlo with the light blue exterior and interior and was wondering if anyone would happen to know where I can find the proper color interior dye. I would like to order speaker door panels from Gbody parts but they do not offer that color anymore.
The color offered is not exact for the powder blue offered in the A body cars. If you want exact, you will have to have it made. I have a powder blue interior and the interior paint offered is a different shade.
I had a pint custom mixed at a local auto paint supplier to respray the rear package shelf on my 79 Monte Carlo. They did a spectrophotometer scan of the back side of the lower kick panel and matched to it.
Anyway... they matched it to a 1987 Jaguar color in Axalta Cromabase with the vinyl converter. Chip number is 735417K. PPG lists the color as a 14782.
Hold on to your wallet as the prices of paint at least here in Buffalo NY has skyrocketed but the color was dead nuts to the rest of the interior.
That is a gorgeous 79 Monte Carlo you have.
Looks like the same color thats in my friends 79 Camaro. He had a qt of SEM Color Coat mixed by the local autobody paint supply and I sprayed everything for him. I think it was almost 25 pieces of interior plastic. He was happy with the match.
