I thought I knew that an LS engine had power and torque. Well, my 6.0 has destroyed TWO transmissions; a stock 4L60 and a new "race" 4L60. I now have a new Turbo 400 - I hope it lasts.

(I am also on rear end number two now)

This 400 should hold up better than a 4L80E - and was an easy install

Wow! damn!! Hope my t56 holds up to the stock 5.7 and maybe later 6.2 swap. I am planning to get it rebuilt by Tick performance if it goes bad.. I bought a built up 4l65e but decided to use the t56 instead. How much HP are you pushing?

A little disclaimer, I have sticky drag radials, and I do drag race so your results may vary. Different stuff broke in the 4L60s - I remember the lugs sheared off the band one time and I bent the snout of the convertor another. It had good parts too, Sonnax sun shell, Kolene steels etc. The trans tech said "I didn't think that car had that much torque."

I think I have less than 450 at the flywheel, the torque is what kills em though.

This isn't very surprising. I've read nothing but bad things about the 60s. That's why I'm spending the little extra and going to an 80.

Lol. It is torque that kills transmissions. It kills me when people ask or companies say its good for X horsepower. When I had the long stroke 509 caddy it would find the weakest point in the driveline. We had to run a billet forward drum/shaft to make the 200-4r hold up to the low end grunt of the big Cad.

I think you need a new trans tech. The trans I have from Finish Line Trans has been nothing short of perfect
