And so begins the long road to getting my 87 Monte Carlo to a respectable state. Today I pulled that old broken down Turbo 350 transmission out.

I apologize to the forum in advance, I will be sliding in that 700r4 sans rebuild. Unfortunately, I stay in an area where a vehicle not in operating condition or not properly stored, can be seized by local government through the code enforcement dept. :blam: So i don't have the time to let the car sit. Don't worry, I will get it worked over once I get the money for the motor swap.

That 700r4 slide in but It took some work to get it in there. I had to remove the heat shield for the offset crossmember to slide into place. Also had a minor issue with the transmission mount. The stock mount was about a 1/4 inch to long for the crossmember to slide under while the mount was attached. So I had to remove the mount and attach it to the crossmember. Slide the crossmember in place, then attach the mount to the transmission. Had to use a wrench set to tighten it, because the crossmember didn't have holes for the transmission mount screws. Whenever I get the around to taking the 700r4 back out for rebuild, I will definitely be going back in with an after market mount. Will post pics later

Good work. I'm guessing you didn't get hit with the pre-Winter blast of crappy weather down there.

Oh yeah we got hit with that bad weather today. Rain, wind, and cold. Luckily the work was done on Sunday, just never got a chance to post. Here is the pics from the work done.

My haul from the local Pull a Part scavenging trip .

Electric radiator fan from a 2002 Dodge Intrepid. Will have to call my uncle about getting some mounts made to hold it in place.

Spindles and brake setup from a 2002 Chevy Blazer. Will break them down and clean it all. Definitely painting the calipers, mounts, and dust shields.

The only thing left is to hunt down a drive shaft. I was able to find one place i found locally that will cut a drive shaft. But he won't do the work unless the car is at the shop, and won't give me a price until the work is done. I will continue looking.

Cutlass radiator plate will work nice to hold those fans. I've got a few pm me if you're interested! I trimmed the tabs a bit and fabbed a lower shroud to cover the whole radiator and secure it bit more.

I live outside of New Orleans. Yep, the local government has one of those Curb Appeal laws enforced by Code Enforcement. The amount of stuff you can't do on you property is ridiculous. You also can't work on your cars on your property, but most people do anyway. Just have to do it after 5 pm or on weekends.
