The bellhousing has "GM2" stamped into it, does that help? Any other numbers I should look for?
A casting # that starts with 38XXXXXX or 39XXXXXXX. Google the number and I'm sure you'll get plenty of hits. The truck bellhousings usually had mounting pads at the 4 and 8 o'clock positions and the transmission just hangs off the back. They also had a larger (5 1/8"?) hole too.

Ah so that is a truck bellhousing? Any reason I couldn't/shouldn't use it on the Olds?

No, yours looks like a car version to me. There shouldn't be any reason you can't use it as long as you are using a Chevy motor and the center hole is the same size (4 5/8"ish) to be used with a Saginaw/Muncie/T-10/T-5. The style you have is pretty heavy and most people gravitate toward the later style aluminum type but it should be usable. I just sold a '61 car version that was cleaned and painted with a fork for $40 and was glad to get it. People just don't see to want them. Here's a pic of a truck version with the mount pads I mentioned (passenger car version are completely flat across the bottom). It shows where the casting number is located. The date code is above that. Both are usually covered in a layer of grease.
