I got some of my 78, the hood/bumper are primer black, the rest is semi/shiny black .

Will that do?

I like the look of the black/dark rims.

Just wrestling with painting/powder coating the drag stars.

Thanks! That is one of the two pictures I was looking for that had been posted in a thread on here before. Hey maybe if you look what you posted that on before you can help me locate the other pic. It was of the 81 to 87 body. I have an 83 Cutty that I am going to do the low gloss black pretty much black out treatment to. I like that car a lot. Still undecided about painting the chrome bumpers. I know unless roughed and coated paint comes off the bumpers. Did you window tint it yourself or have it done?

Just my humble opinion but I'd ahve the bumpers sand blasted and powerred coated instead of paint. Would hold up better.

Agreed.

I was assuming, maybe wrongly, that he was looking low buck.

That's usually a big part of the motivation behind the blacked out look.

Besides looking sinister.

yes likely you are right but there are just some places you want to spend a little extra ... I've seen so many painted that just chip and peal -it aint cheap but it's really the "right way"
