I need a bigger wheel and wider tire, leaning towards 17" rims. I like the original look and Yearone makes 17" replicas but not sure if they will fit and price appears to be double what you can get other 17" rims for.

Option#1 is they Year One Staggered set 17x8 +0 offset in the front and 17x9 +3 offset in the back ( https://www.yearone.com/Product/wheels/bmws1#prettyPhoto ) wrapped in Nitto NT555 G2's 245/45 up front and 275/40 in the back, anyone know if these will fit?

Option#2 is another rim but, I have no idea what might look good. Looking for options and opinions.

I've got a set of the Year One rims on my '80 Malibu. They're the style that looks like the late '70s Z28 steel wheels. 17" by 8" on the front and 17" by 9" on the rear. I'm using 245/45 tires on the front, and 255/50 tires on the rear. I had an issue with the rear rims, because they have 5" of backspace. about the most BS that you can get away with on these cars is 4.75" (some people say 4.5", which is actually a bit better). With the wheel & tire combination that I have, the right rear tire was touching the frame, the left rear wasn't. Chalk one up to everyone who says that the bodies on these cars aren't mounted 100% square on the frame. I purchased a pair of 7/32" thick wheel spacers for the rear, and now I have clearance. I've probably put 500-600kms on the car since I installed the wheels and tires, and so far, no issues, but the inner sidewalls of the rear tires are pretty close to the frame, more so on the right side than the left. I'm using extended shank lug nuts, just for a little extra insurance. The car has had the Blazer front brake swap (which supposedly widens the front track of the car a bit), and it has 1" lowering Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks. If you're planning on a 275 rear tire, you're probably going to run into more clearance issues than I did. Hope this helps.

Would love to see a pic with the new wheels...your car is one of my favorites on this board.

You know you can get the exact same buick chrome wheel your car has right now in the pic as a 14" but in a 15" size right? Not a 17, but, still opens up brake a tire options for a LOT less money and less harsh ride

Here's what a set would more or less look like, except chrome. These were 15s off a century pace car, center caps and trim rings removed, that are acting as rollers on my firebird. Unless you preferred painted, in which case the pace car is what you'd be looking to get a set from.

Yes that helps a lot, thanks.

I'm really happy with the look, fit and quality of my YearOne Olds Rally wheels, 17x8, 245/45R17 all around. I never got around to painting the spokes black, I think it would look better. I ended up with about the same overall wheel/tire height from the previous 15x7 SSIII's. YearOne was supposed to send me pre-cut stencils to make it easier to paint (vs decal) but I never followed up...

They've been on the car 3 years now and have really held up nice, no problems with the chrome plating...quality is nice. Only think I didn't like is the center cap retention, they are held on with a spring clip and it's next to impossible to get the center cap on without pulling the wheel off to access the back. Other than that, I've not had any issues with them falling out so far so good.

Those wheels look very good. I do think they missed the boat a little where they didn't copy the original look of the black to better distinguish the spokes. I keep looking at them, but I'd have to paint them correctly. What was the stencil that they were going to supply? I've never been able to get a response from them.
