The car runs pretty well, but when I do a cold start it takes an attempt or three to get it going. I've been told it shoots out a black puff on the start and am guessing it is running a little rich. When I changed the spark plugs several had dark sooty deposits. It's a stock style quadrajet replacement carb.

What does it take to adjust the carb if I wanted it to run a little leaner and perhaps step up the idle? With it being a computer adjusted carb am I better off leaving this to a professional?

Another issue I have going on that may be correlated to this is when the AC is on and i come to a stop, it idles down to 500rpm and I am a little concerned it'll bog down and I'll get rear ended.

Thanks for the help fellas
