My buddy wrecked his 03' escalade with the lq9 6.0 a couple years ago and it has been sitting in his garage, he finally got it pulled out of the truck I'm getting it for a steal because he decided to go with a chevy 454 in his 84' olds regency cool I guess everyone has their own opinion. My plan was to go carbed with the 6.0 the car will just be a street/strip so I've been doing a lot of reading on the forum and lstech and I have a couple question about the fuel sending unit in the tank what direct replacements will work in a g body fuel tank. I'm still trying to decide what trans I want to run behind the 6.0 I have a BOP th350 right now in the car which isn't worth trying to mate up to the 6.0 I'm thinking of going with a used 700r4 or 4l60e what do you guys recommend any info or suggestions is much appreciated.
I'm trying to resize the pics I have of the 6.0 I'll post them up asap.

Re: vortec 6.0 swap 86' cutlass

If you are going carb'd you should be able to use the stock fuel sending unit. Find a 4l60E made after 2001 as they will have the 5 pinion front and rear planetary gears from the factory.

Cool I wasn't sure about the sending unit I'll start looking most of the 4l60e trans I find in my area are from 4wd trucks but I'm sure I can track 1 down from a 2 wheel drive trans. thanks for the info.

The 4l60e and 4l80e have gotten quite expensive and hard to find. Between the demand from enthusiasts and GM's buy back program prices are ridiculous; if you can manage to find one. The only quote I got after calling a half a dozen local yards as well as LKQ was 1600 bucks; which lets face it, that's insane you can buy a tci built TH350/400 and have some cash left in your pocket. However, if your dead set on an overdrive Trans like me, then try Craigslist or word of mouth. I'm going with a 4l80e from jakesperformance.com at 2,700 bucks it might not be the cheapest solution but it will hold up to 750 ft lbs at the wheels and really between buying a core, rebuild parts, a shift kit, and possibly paying for a shop to rebuild it you'd be at or above 2700 anyways.

If anyone is interested I'm about to have a 4L80E with 74,000 miles on it for sale from a 07 GMC 2 wheel drive. I will ship it anywhere. Message me for info.

Man! I would be ready to buy that too but I just had a baby on Sunday so my funds are a little short and my Ls swap has been put on hold for awhile hopefully not too long though. Where are you located because I'm in Anchorage, AK so you're sure you'll ship it anywhere.
