Just wanted to correct myself, for anyone in the future who uses this thread for their build research. I read the info wrong and it turns out LT1 is infact a 153 tooth. Lots of misleading info online (regarding sbc flywheels) I bought both an LT1 flywheel and a Post-86 flywheel and they have the same bolt pattern and both are weighted but the LT1 is more of a "deep dish" on the engine side whereas the Gen I flywheel is flat. My motor is on the stand so I cant really determine why just yet but long story short, they are different. I believe also the LT1 pistons are lighter than the Gen I pistons therefore creating different balancing requirements. I was tempted to try and fit the Gen I piece as it is definitely lighter but I am going to play it safe and use the intended flywheel.

There is also early and late LT1, late I believe had the powdered metal rods or whatever the new hotness was. I want to say that was 95-97.

Ok, yet another curveball to this operation. Hopefully somebody has run into this.

I bought both the Gen 1 and Gen II 1 pc RMS flywheel. They have the same mounting pattern, both engine and clutch, the weight *looks to be the same. The LT1 flywheel is like an inch or more TALLER than the Gen I flywheel. That is, they are the same on the engine side, but on the clutch side the LT1 flywheel is dished out an inch or more. See pics. Now I am wondering if this is specifically needed for the T56 and if/how it will affect anything with mounting to my T10

You can see in the pics the flywheel with the "deep dish" is the LT1

My guess is it's transmission specific, don't forget about the pull style hydraulics in the LT1 T56. I can't speak to the balancing.
Thanks. I think i need to use the Gen I flywheel. The weights look the same so i should be OK.
