Hi guys,
I was making some plans to do my (dual)exhaust.
And quickly found out that the crossmember is going to be in the way.

What have you guys done?
Just cut it up and put some pipe bigger than the exhaust in between?

Maybe someone had some pictures of their exhaust routes for me?

Already got me hooker headers and some thrush mufflers just need to get some pipe.

I bought a g force crossmember for mine. Got it from summit a long time ago.
Thx for the tip but fabricating one is the best and cheapest option for me.
Checked summit but by the time I get one to holland it gets to expensive.

Didn’t realize you were in Holland. Fabricating the one I have wouldn’t be too difficult. It’s just some square tubing and plate steel.

I ran 2.5" duals from w/z polished exhaust manifolds.

If your factory crossmember is in good shape you can notch it and weld in some flat steel plate in it's place, if the exhaust isn't that large you can notch the driver's side only.
I used to do this long before the aftermarket started making them.

I'm gonna do dual 2.5"
So I'll have to notch both sides
I was thinking something like this --0--0--
Use some thick gauge pipe a little larger than the actual exhaust

I don't consider 2.5" big, on my Monte I modified my factory crossmember to fit a 400 turbo trans and my 4.5" exhaust and everything is tucked up high.
If I was going to use pipe like you want to do I would use 1/4" thick wall and cut them in half so it is open on the bottom it will make installation much easier.
I think the passenger will be fine for 2.5" though.

You can't see my crossmember but you can see how high up my exhaust is for ground clearance.

In the past, I recall a guy making his own cross member from scratch. He used the stock cross member to make a jig and fabricated his own.
Like what 565bbc did, I also notched and welded in a reinforcement plate. This also was done before aftermarket cross members were available.
However, I have an Iceman double hump unit for a 200-4R which will go in when I finally get around to building and installing my 200-4R.
If you have fabricating skills, I'm sure you can knock it out of the park.
