I have been looking at low mileage 1985-1990 Trans Ams for months leading into corona season. They are anywhere between $12000 and $20000. More if the owner is ridiculous. I find myself holding off now to see if the car market craps out to grab one cheaper. I wonder how long that will take? Prices have gotten so ignorant that it’s bound to happen.

Yeah, they're going to plummet for sure. I've had my eye on my neighbor's 89 Formula 350 for quite some time. He thinks it's worth way more than it is, but he's one of those tight wads that looks at how much it has cost him as opposed to how much it's actually worth.

About the only TA really worth much from that era is the 89 TTA Anniversary model. Only 1,555 built. Parts of GN &GNX engines with better factory heads from 1988 3800. Rated at 250 hp, dynod at 300 with 240 RWHP. Did the 1/4 in 13.4 The artiicle says “ the BEST PERFORMANCE CAR OF THE 80s. Solid roof with cloth interior are the rarest only 15 produced. I personally still don’t care for that era of F bodies, but for a 3,400+ lb car, the numbers are impressive. On one auction an owner had his with 3,000 miles that wouldn’t get past $31,000 no sale

I’m not sure what the car market will do either. I think people will still ask higher prices and not get them because we will be in a recession. It will take some time for people to financially recover from this if they were out of work during this pandemic, so they won’t spend any money trying to rebuild their bank accounts. The cars just won’t sell. Others may have to sell their cars to help recover at a cheap price just to recoup some cash to make ends meet. If you’re financially stable, you can ride it or buy up some cheap cars. The prices may not change for some, but the sales will change for everyone. Just my opinions.

Well, with the REALLY hi-dolla, auction-type, collector cars, it will be quite a while before they come down. The rich bastids that overpaid for them won't be hurting for money like us normal folk. Hopefully, the run of the mill v6 Gs will come back down to reality. Deals are still out there, but everybody that scarfed up an estate sale find thinks they own (and want to sell) a goldmine.

I don't really expect the market values to drop much. There may be a few panic sales here and there but I expect prices to generally stay level. I do think the car market will get stagnant though. Lots of us will just let them sit until things get normal-er. I've been prepping a car to sell for the last 6 months. I'll list it and see what happens. If I don't get any action, I'll just leave it in the garage until next spring and try again.
