So im pulling the trigger on some Jegs SSR wheels. I'm running 15x8 in the rear and wondering how big of a tire I can do , and yes I'm on stock frame.

It makes a difference if it is a Cutlass since your wheel wells are not round it affects tire clearance
Question of how big always comes up and along with the wide variations from individual vehicles & also from side to side that varies, so there is never one safe absolute maximum number for everybody..
Shorter diameter will have more room than taller sizes.
There is a thread on el camino central discussing tire fitment, of course that's not a cutty. Detroit speed also has some sort of size recommendation.
I'd guess in a 15" wheel , a 275/50 on a 10" rim is the absolute max usually run by anyone without more than a little wheelwell edge trimming & maybe a little hammering.

The first set of aluminum rims I bought for my Monte were ARE 15" x 8" with 4.50" BS and without any mods to anything I ran 275/60 on the rear and 245/60 on the front,
Usually 15×8 with 4.5" backspace if memory serves me right and 275/60's I haven't bought wheels in years.You can always shop local for tires and tell them you want to do a test fit on the tires.Then tell them you want to think it over and buy your tires online if there is a big price difference or see if they will price match.Good luck.
