The SS is coming along real nice Deezy. I heard they kicked you out of the BFC on ECR/KOTS for this one. Like Warren said, keep the updates coming.

First I can't believe I missed your entire thread on this. I didn't even know you started another project. Haven't been on here very much lately, but man.... the speed with which you have been going through on this build is rediculous. I mean mine is still in storage for the winter and now I'm waiting on funds and some other "life" things before I can do something with it, and trust me I've been dying to get on her.

But this Monte is on steroids right here. Love the door panels first off.

Love the way you hunted down the budget parts and made everything come together, one by one, and so fast too. Interior is lookin sweeet -- just the way I would've wanted it to look myself. I can see how your experience in the first project translated to a total "custom" interior, especially the fiberglass work on the center console, and dash radio bezel!

The way your engine bay turned out... unbelievable bro. Showroom quality for sure. Totally sick!!! All without spending big bucks, that's what makes this so impressive.

I read through the 12 pages and I'm drooling at all the candy you bought for this baby. The body's gonna turn out damn sexy as well. I know 'cuz I did on of your picture requests.. here (colors are a bit off but I was trying to get it to look real and not like paintshop lol):

Anyways bro, keep up the good work, I mean amazing work on this sweet SS. I always liked these cars and seeing this thread, gotta say I'm slightly jealous 😉

Cheers, waiting for more updates

:friday:

this is also helping the dash area out and i like how the old school style 90's radio looks and fits in the car. i just might keep it this way forever, i dont think anyone would break into the car to steal this.

Yo, I thought I was the only one thinking about doing this, how did you wire it up to get it to work?

wow 454 thanks a lot man your 1 cool dude the comments you just dropped gave me an up lift 8) . happy you took the time to overlook my work and the fact that you like it. I also want to thank you for helping me out with the paint request i asked for so major props for that. My paint job should turn out pretty good now i can really visualize the detail add on's i plan to make to bring it some life so its not just a simple 2tone paint job. oh i cant wait to get on that....looks like i'll be learning some basic body work with this 1 but the good part is im learning new skills so later on down the line i can really work on a true muscle car late 60's/early 70's ride.

You know after dumping so much money into the cutlass i couldn't have just a stock style SS so i had to really get my hunt on for the cheaper but nice quality parts used or new. The thing i guess i would say has got me the most is spending time finding the right parts. By now im sure i could of had this car rolling around if i had more than a day or 2 per week to work on the ride. Ive had the car about 2 1/2 months or so and i too am somewhat surprised on how things are moving along.

The funny things is i learned this stuff backwards the hard way. i went from not knowing much about cars to swapping motors from carb to efi setups and building a gbody from the ground up which was pretty damn difficult. Doing it that way made working on a carb motors feel like a piece of cake. So overall i learned a lot of stuff and confident in my wrenching skills for sure now. I always give a shout out to my boy NICK who goes by the name thedoctorisin on here, he is a close friend on mine and a cool guy who has helped me from time to time make the progress on my cars.

well right on bro and i'll keep my updates coming!

I didn't wire it up yet im not that far along with the car, i just got power in it last week. It should be pretty easy to do. Have to buy the radio wire harness and from there it should be just like your normal install, amp kit and speakers then wire it all up, simple as that im sure im not missing anything.

This SS must be the lucky ride because the timing couldn't be any better whenever i seem to search for parts. My local flea market/swap meet have these audio dealers all around and i bought a brand new amp kit for $20 from a guy who just bought it 20 mins before me for $40. he locked his keys in his car so after buying the kit he didnt have enough cash for the lock smith so he sold what he just bought to pay the man to get his keys out of his car. man what a bad day for that guy but it was a sweet come up for myself.

These are my old subs and box from my cutlass. the cutlass has fiberglass now  Anyway i went with 3 10's because of the shelf in the rear of the trunk in gbody cars can fit a sub box with 10's but not 12's so thats the reason for my setup. they look a tad bit dusty in this pic but thats no biggie.

i think i'll try to get the setup hooked up this weekend if i can.

I know you got the rad top plate on a deal but do you know who sells them?

now i cant find the info i checked a few sites out for you to try to locate it, mikes monte, gsi and gbodyparts. maybe they dont make them anymore i cant think it would have been a big sale item at the $180 mark but good luck on your search. last thing i could try to do is contact the guy i got it from.

I have been following your projuct, it's impressive how nice it is coming along. Did you consider using High Heat Bleack header paint instead of black wrap?

I really like how the radio/cd player looks in there also....great idea!

I have an '86 SS that I have been working on as well, seeing your stuff gives me ideas for mine....keep up the good hard work my man!!
