I live in the Detroit area and I have been constantly looking for a fair priced clean and mostly original Regal or Cutlass in that order.
It seems around here as far as what is for sale among the Cutlass,Regal,Monte and Grand Prix that the Cutlass seems to be the most common followed closely by the Monte, and I see very few Regals and Grand Prix's though the Regal's are still more common than the Grand Prix's.
I have been looking going on a year now and have looked at a few but I am only semi serious about buying one mainly because I don't really have room for another car but that doesn't stop me from looking and wanting one but this whole time it has been the same order of availability.

1. Cutlass
2. Monte Carlo
3. Regal
4. Grand Prix

So I am curious in other areas what the most common and is it similar to my area or completely different or are they just non-existent.

Its about the same here. Most of the montes I see are butchered or too far gone to restore but the owners still ask an arm and a leg. I always hear "I can get $1000 easy for just the doghouse".

Same here. I can find a Cutlass, Regal, Malibu or SS all day. They're usually beat to hell, have distasteful mods and are way overpriced. The few low mileage, unmolested cars I find are upwards of $7K. I rarely see Pontiac g-bodies unless they're Bonnevilles. The few '81 & up GP's are usually trashed.

There's a Cutlass with front end damage parked a few houses away from me. It needs a fender and a header panel, 307 equipped, floor shifter & buckets, half vinyl, metric 200 trans, and hubcaps. The lady wanted $3k for it 9 months ago and said, "I know what I have" . It's still sitting in the same spot and hasn't moved. It's sad that it will rust apart and just end up getting scrapped before she comes to here senses and sells it for a reasonable price.

Everyone thinks they have a goldmine because of these damn TV shows.

Tv shows, magazines, and general ignorance has led people to believe that just because they have a full frame car with rear wheel drive and a v8 they suddenly own a 70 Chevelle SS. Piles of crap are suddenly $3,000 bucks and that leads to people with the affordable yet nice cars to think "if they are asking that then mine must be worth more" then suddenly those nice yet affordable cars are $6000 bucks and the average joe cant get them anymore. Really gets me going sometimes with the "i know what i got" people, when most of there stuff is hacked up junk that they have put money in all the wrong, cheapo parts that look awful and work even worse. Then explain to you that there 305 or 307 is a High output and makes a ton of power since its a v8. Ok end of rant, sorry people  To add to the original post a bit in my area Cutlass's seem to be the most popular and the most seen with elcamios following close behind. Only 1 seen grand prix in my area and almost no regals of any sort and a whole load of hacked up monte carlos

The last g-body grand prix I saw around here was in a wrecking yard about 8 years a go. There are a bunch of monte's running around, and a few cutlass's and a couple of Regals. Its the same here as everywhere else, people think their rusted out POS is worth its weight in gold.

just this week end i have seen an outrage amount of gbodies all on the same route on my way to aunts house on highway 220 and cumberland highway. there all over the place

5 monte carlos
3 grand prixs ( 1 was an prestine aerocoupe 2+2) WANTED $9500
1 cutlass t-top
3 buick regal (2 were t-types) all way over priced
1 malibu and its pontiac equivalent (same seller)
lost count with the el camino's

I would say this is the order in the NW.
1. El Camino
2. Monte Carlo
3. Cutlass
4. Regal
5. Malibu
6. Grand Prix
Rarely see the other Pontiacs. 442s, H/O, GNs are pretty scarce.

I am always looking to see what is there. Looking on CL, here is what I see...
1. Cutlass
2. Monte Carlo
3. El Camino
4. Malibu
5. Regal
Oh, yeah, an occasional GP Wtf happened to the Lemans ? I always loved those cars...and yes here in St. Louis, these cars are overpriced and "fixed up". Yeah right.. Timo22
