Seems to have been a 307CI Olds F41 T-top car. Never knew they were rated THAT high for gas mileage; 18 city and 30 highway (!). And they, through flogging it in tests, averaged 22MPG.

They are just getting back to that type of mileage with V8's, albeit with far more advanced fuel delivery, 6 and 8 speed transmissions, as well as cylinder deactivation.

Yeah, 307's were total garbage. NOT.

Also a good video is their review of the Monte Carlo SS. Almost half the time to get to 60MPH compared to the Olds. Actually smoked the tires a little bit on takeoff.

I saw this when I was searching for info before I bought my car. I'm happy with it though, these are really nice cars. Mine was a low mileage unmolested original. I can see why these were so popular. I've had many people tell me they had one and used to see them all over in the 80's.
