Holy god! That must be pretty uncommon to see an untouched 1980 Regal. I'll buy the 3.8 off you!!! If it's close to Michigan that is... Is it Computerized carb or Vacuum? (Late-80) They made the switch to Electronic Rochester Dualjets I found out from a Vet G-Body Friend.

Yeah, A lot of guys Usually just swap out the V6 for a V8 much (Cheaper) apparently & Easier to work on.
But if you still like & want a V6, Get a Grand National Motor. From there Very Tuneable & Modifiable.
