Let me start by saying this is a budget build, and my first build on my own at that. The last car I built was done with my dad so I had him helping me on a lot. I can do your normal motor swap without an issue. I have been into cars since I was young.

Motor when it came home:

Started the tear down:

Kept the stock bottom end and heads, just checked it over. The plan was Vortec heads but I found out my heads were no good.

Painted up:

New MLS head gaskets:

Have a new fan clutch for it, only a mock up. Need to find a fan pulley, Alternator, Battery/cables (moving to the trunk) Radiator and upper/lower hoses. Next is wheels and tires. Picked up an Olds Ralley wheel for it, making sure its what I like then pick up 3 more.

Arm chair quarter back here, but, I think your combo would run a little harder with a different intake.
The cam you have is mild, a Performer or RPM style intake manifold would help develop more low end, and make the car feel and run much stronger.

Looking good so far.

Are you going to delete the AC stuff?

I agree, but free and offy dont come often. The motor was designed for Vortec heads, so my Vortec carb intake matches much better.

Ac will be gone but I do want defrost.

So, you are going to put Vortec heads and an intake on later? Then I totally understand the cam choice.

I totally dig free, uh, I got a G-body, not really a big budget car, or mine have not been.

Looking good!

I see the fuel pressure regulator on the fenderwell and was wondering, are you running a high volume manual fuel pump?
