Hey Folks .. though i introduce myself again with some more pictures of my 79 Monte Carlo ..

My name is Henry and i´m from Germany ;)

I bought the Monte in April 2016 from a guy in Austria. The Monte was Build in Ontario and than shipped to Austria right away.
I´m the 3rd owner now and it has something over 100k miles on the clock. It came with Bucket Seats, Floor shifter, 350TH Transmission and a 4.4l 267cui V8.
The original carmine red two tone was probably painted over a couple times but it still looks pretty good.
The previous owner ran the car with 17" aloys and Hijackers in the back. He also had cherry bombs and side pipes installed which was just to freakin loud.

After i brought it back to Germany first thing i did was to get rid of the Side pipes. A friend of mine replaced them with a super sweet stainless steel dual exhaust.
After that i needed to get my Inspection done and the monte was ready to hit the Streets.

My plans where to get that "Lowrider"-Look for my monte somehow. The thing is you can´t get Hydraulics Street legal over here unless you
have the biggest connections and even then i´d say its still illegal to drive them on open streets.
The next thing is you want to go with the "historical vehicle" license plate becaus with this you can drive whereever you want and save a lot of money in terms of Taxes and Insurance. This "H" Plate (last latter on my License plate) indicates that you have a well maintained, historical accurate vehicle older than 30 Years, which will not be drivin as a daily driver (you have Insurance restrictions such as a maximum miles per year ~ about 6000miles). But like i´ve said you need to keep your car as close to stock as possible and the restricions getting more and more ridiculous each year.

Yeah, so i got me some OG Wire wheels with gold Hub and gold nipples and also bought me the 2inch lowering springs from UMI.

Buuuut, as is mentioned in some other posts before - i wasn´t really happy with the result i got from the 2inch springs.
So i changed them to 3 inch lowering springs from OPGI (i used regular KYB gas-a-just shocks with them - so far perfect ride comfort!).

Well - 3 inch springs and 14" spokes didn´t fit well. First of, the car was way to deep so i couldn´t get in my garage anymore
and on the other hand - with the 185/70 tires i was rubbing inside my wheel wells. But, i somehow didn´t even like how oversized those 14" rims
looked when the car sits down on 3" springs.

I decided to sell the rims just one year after i got them and get back on 14" steel wheels with the original Hub Caps.

Now i´m happy with the overall look of the monte. I even got my sidemarkers working again (it´s actually illegal to have those in germany :blam: )

Well .. thats it so far .. a friend of mine redid the 2bbl Rochester carb last year, and since that the monte is running like never before.
I drive it regulary, to work, on the autobahn with 75-80mph - I couldn´t really ask for more - it runs and it looks sweet as hell ..

Thx for reading :)
Henry

Awesome Monte. You even have what looks like a crack free dash. I had a '79 Landau in the same colors. Noticed it also looks like US/Canada spec tail laights.

thank you for the warm welcome!! I guess there are a lot of people who need some time to realize that those monte carlos are actually pretty good looking with all the curves and what not. Some of my friends also needed some time to really "fall in love" with my monte. But i´m glad you came around and congratulations on getting through with the gentleman :D
Got to do something about that rear plate, tho..... :wtf::p

You mean the rear plate in the first couple Pictures? Yeah, those poor Austrian´s  .. mine is actually a lot smaller (even smaller than a US-Plate)
