About a month ago I got a tip from a friend someone was selling a clean Monte Carlo SS in blue with a locked up 305.

I go check it out and turns out the car is clean, minimal rust, was someone's show car at some point, but sat outside for about a year.

Make an offer, offer accepted, go with the tow truck and pick it up.

I spent the next 3 weeks recovering from eye surgery and playing with different ideas for the motor and the car. I was really leaning towards a 383 stroker and then my boy pressured me to try to find a LS motor.

picked up a LM7 5.3 with 100k on it and started to disassemble it and clean it up :

no sludge, no dex-cool gunk build up, spins freely, no metal shavings etc; overall I think I got a great 5.3

all the parts are ordered so I am just waiting for stuff to get done/ delivered then i can start putting the motor together.

-CTS-v Oil pan kit
-comp cam 232/234 .595 /.598 110LSA
-243 heads ported, valves , and milled down to increase compression with BTR .660 dual valve springs shimmed
-ls2 timing chain
-ls6 oil pump
-holley 670 CFM carb
-holley carb intake manifold
-ls7 lifters
-tci flex plate
-truck accessory drive (no A/C)
-msd LS box
-champion 3 row radiator
-fan shroud (need to see if my ls1 fans from my camaro SS will fit it)
-texas speed f-body 1-7/8 long tube headers
im sure theres more I don't remember I will add later

very excited to be doing this build

whats up bro ! I ordered the carshop inc 1" LS setback plates, my understanding of this is those mount to your motor, then you take the SBC clamshell mounts and mount them to that and then to the car obviously.

the msd box is MSD # 6012

the only difference i am seeing is this " Can be installed on both 24x and 58x crank trigger engines"

I have a 24x crank trigger so that's the box that I ordered.

Did you ever think about looking at the Daytona Sensor Smart Spark. It's called something along those lines. A little more pricey but hear nothing but good things about it.

I seen that but it seems like it's just slightly more adjustable so I'm ok with the Ls msd box for now
