Since I got the exhaust to a point I decided to do a quick mock up on the Cold Case I finally got. Pulled out the rad support & shroud, made sure I had all four wide tank rad pads in place, tossed it in. Noticed the stock pads are not as wide/open to allow the tanks the sit like the stock rad did. This is keeping the shroud from sitting place to bolt on & have the core top hit the rad support in the center where there is alittle bit of extra sheet metal is. I know I'll have to get some pics when I get back in the garage to show what I'm talking about. Everything looks great on the radiator & if I find another set of pads that fit the tanks better I believe everything will clear like an O.E. I won't hack the stock pads to work as I would rather hord good originals so I'm thinking if the universal poly pads would be a better fit or repops for older A-bodies. Anyone or Ccas come up with a suggestion on what pads will work better. FYI if anyone ever noticed the retaining nipples on the pads for our cars are not centered likes the older A-bodies.

I just ordered a set of Prothane 7-1712 "Big Block" pads from Jegs Fleabay store. Bastards nailed me with sales tax. :rant:Still can't accept that it happens now.

Back when I started building my 81 I bought a Griffin "custom fit" aluminum from Summit. Figured it would bolt right in with no modification. As soon as I slid it in I saw the tanks were a lot wider than original. I hacked up a bunch of saddles trying to get it to look and fit right. In the end I bought a 4 row from a place in CA that has the factory style tanks. Fits like original.
I just looked at the Cold Case website. Are the tanks the same size and shape as an OEM ?
I still might need a radiator for my wagon.

The tanks are rounded/curved/shaped simular to O.E., don't have that "edged" weld like most "square tank" aluminum rads. But the tanks are bigger than the old 3 core & my spare/emergency 2 core. I should get some pictures of the next to each other.

Nice, the people I need to talk to won't be in until tomorrow morning. Their automated system claims it was shipped Monday via USPS. USPS tracking says it's in pre shipment as they are waiting for it. I'm thinking the radiator part of the project was a bad idea to start right now, no one wants to ship me what I ordered. :blam:
