I am replacing all of the vacuum hoses on my 1987 GN. I came across this electrical and vacuum component that is located on the top of the right valve cover toward the front. It has an electrical connector with a purple with white stripe wire and a red with black stripe going into the red push connector. Note also that there are 2 vacuum ports on the other end. One port doesn't have a vacuum hose on it and the other vacuum hose goes to a "Y" splitter, one branch which goes to the base of the turbo and the other I haven't yet chased down.

Note also the red dot on the right side and an "H" on the left side.

My question is should the empty port be connected to something or merely blocked off.

I attach a picture.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wastegate solenoid. I believe it's #13 in drawing. I think you may need that part.

Factory Y-hose assembly for it is 25525576 it seems. OMFG...they're proud of those things....they don't have these aftermarket?

Albeit, I have no idea about Turbo 6's, so I could be talking outta my azz here. Take whatever I say with a grain of salt.

Apparently there's an orifice in the Y fitting? I dunno. Found this:

If you need a new Y connector with the orifice, Kirban's has replacement Y's with the orifice. They're proud of them too. 33 bucks.

I know nothing about GN engines, solenoids, V6's in general. But nosing around the parts books, I think a filter goes on the end of the fitting. I dunno.

Says it has a filter on it....it's just a sponge filter. GM p/n 801528 You can buy a whole box of them here:

Solenoid, should you need to ever find one, is GM p/n 1997157.

Found a picture that shows the foam filter stuck on the end right where yours probably needs to go.
