ok so i was trying to figure out how to hook up my electric choke and i took off the oil pressure sender wire and seen that i only have two prongs. i thought i needed 3 to hook up electric choke? but their are three wires coming out of the harness. 2 different colored greens and a black i believe, any advice on that to do? i have a 1986 monte carlo with a 350 smallblock.

The choked wire is blue if I remember correctly....if you turn the ignition on it will have a constant 12 volts

it'll be in the harness that comes around the back of the engine to the passenger side. The wiring for the alternator is in the same harness. There should be a blue wire coming from that harness just about where the choke is

is this the blue wire?

it comes out of the wiring harness that you described. it has a plastic connector on it but it dosnt fit the carb, because of the little nib that points down on the carb connector here is a pic of the wires that come of of the connector for the oil pressure sender. it has the same color blue wire coming out of it, as well as a brown and a green with a whit stripe, what do these other wires do? what one connects to my oil guage because that dosnt work.

and here is a pic of the inside of the connector, with the two slots for the corresponding tabs on the oil pressure sender. what do i only have two tabs!!! and 3 wires!!?

that looks like the blue wire for the choke, looks like someone was using it for something else but as regular female connector will work to connect it to the choke...

the brown wire is for your oil pressure and the blue wire does come from a connection to the oil sender....the green with white I'm not sure

Two of the three wires are connected but go different places and are blue IIRC. The switch has two tabs but the connector has three wires. The reason for the choke wire going to the oil switch is so that if the key is left on the "run" position, but the motor is not running, the choke won't burn up. Therefore if there is oil pressure, the choke can be powered. No pressure, no power. Note that this oil switch is NOT for the gauge, that sender is usually by the oil filter.

No problemo Steve. The oil switch is also for the idiot light and/or the computer "check engine" light.
