Looking at picking up a rear locally out of a Monte SS, Posi 3.73, complete hub to hub. How much is a decent price?
I can get it for $500, sounds high to me, but maybe not?

Depends on mileage and overall condition. I got a complete 3.73 from an 86 for $100. And it had new brakes. $500 for a 7.5 is wayyyy over the top IMO unless its beefed up but at that point your better off finding a used 8.5 or 9 inch and you will still be further ahead.

It also depends on if you can rebuild a rear yourself or not. If you are able to do it, then buying that 7.5 for $500 isn't worth it. If you're not able to rebuild one yourself, and want something you can just bolt it then it may not be to bad. As long as it's in good shape, low miles, diff is still good, etc.

A rear end rebuild is over my head, so I was stupid and had my 7.5 rebuilt. Probably have around $2000 into it. (and before you all laugh, I did this before I found this forum lol)

you need to check it see if it's a 7 5/8 carrier that has 28 spline axles...if it does $500 isn't a bad price
