Getting back into gear for the engine rebuild since the weather finally broke. I was checking a few things & realized that the roller rocker I would like to use beacuse of my OE Vette aluminum valve covers with the drippers cast in. I am toying with going with just standard self aligning or a set with rollor tips. I am always looking to find those free hp's from any up grade parts.

How about a little more info on your small block.
Cam specs,cr etc.
AFAIK if it's a gen 1 sbc it does not require self aligning rockers.

Regardless of what style rocker you need I would go full roller and if the plan is to keep the valve covers you have you can shave the drippers flush since they are not needed with a full roller and if you need a little more clearance you can use the double cork gaskets with the shim in the middle to add some height.

Sorry about forgeting the main detail, '70 L48 with a Edelbrock 2102 cam. I want to stick with 1.5 ratio. Carb will be a 4175 Holley. Stock valves, valve springs are in spec with what Edelbrock told me when I talked to them in the fall.

I would use the valve cover spacers.

i used them on my big block so I could use a stock low profile valve cover.

But i used the new style rubber gaskets

You will need longer valve cover bolts.

Here is a pic of the spacers installed

Once painted and in the car they are hardly noticeable unless you are looking for them.

With the spacers would I be able to keep the drippers in the valve covers? Being an original set I really don't want to alter them in any way.

The spacer come in different height.

So you would have to stack up some gaskets to see just how much clearance you need.

Guess I'll have to bust out the tape to see how tall to go.
Should of thought about it before I changed valve covers.

check for clearance before you buy anything. I am running the cheapie 1.6:1 roller tips jegs ( or was it summit ?? ) house brand rockers on my car. Still have the stock valve covers with no spacer. We tried a set of cast aluminum ones that were laying around but they wouldn't clear
