Need some help identifying this thingema jiggy

Hi everyone. I was going through all of my vacuum lines and spark plug wires and noticed this thing right on top of where the coolant temperature sender sensor is, and the plastic part of
It is broken so I want to replace it, but that’s kind of hard to do if you don’t know what it is. So if one of you helpful gbody masters can help me out that would greatly appreciated.

Thermostatic vacuum switch possibly

Does it have hoses coming off of the broken-off top?

Will be a lot easier to diagnose if year, engine make ar e included

No it’s connected to the engine block and it’s two black wires connected to the connector. It’s a 1982 Buick Regal 3.8/231 V6.

If it's that plug in your hand it's the plug for the computers temp switch. The first pic shows the switch.
