guys, rolling chassis will start next week. I bought the UMI stage 2 kit w 1" drop. I have vette 15x8 rally's w 4.5" BS. I want to put on 275x60's BFG out back, on front, I'm thinking either 225 or 215x70's. This will provide a 1" rake itself. Will these fit in front? I could go 215 or 225x60 in front which provides a nearly 3" rake(too much I think)... I couldn't find a similar setup w comment on rubbing issues here... Anyone with any knowledge on this? I'd like to get this right on 1st try. Thanks!!!

If you have the G body rear I doubt the 275 will fit the back I think with a 4.5" BS the tire will rub the frame.

I did the frame notch... I saw on a similar year elcamino the guy had 275's on 15... He wasn't around to speak to. Just wanted to make sure they'll fit with the lip.... Any thoughts on the fronts?

I've got 15X8 with 4.5" on the back of my Cutlass 255's fit, I think 275's would rub without the notch and roll. I have 235/60/15 up from on 15X7 with 4.5" backspacing, had to run 1/4" spacers to clear the blazer calipers. no inner fender rubs with tall ball joints and saggy 30 year old springs. Kind of interested in your build, as I've been looking at the UMI drop 1" drop springs too, but wondering how they compare to the saggy stocker's. If you have before and after measurements, that'd be great!

Sorry man, no measurements taken before tear down. Wouldn't have helped you anyway as my springs/bushings were all original too and I'm sure lower than should be. I'll go over to montess forum and see if anyone have those 275x15 on theirs... I was hoping to order tires and get on car as rolling chassis. With your 255/235 60's, you have about a 2" rake? You like that or what are your thoughts? I thought with 275-60 and then 225-70, I'd get about 1-1.5" rake... I'll be around on this site but it will be a while for final measurements as the body will just be getting done now that I dropped frame off today for blast/powdercoat

Here is a pic of our 79 Green Machine on our 2' lowering coil spring with 275-35-18 tires

It measure approx 26 1/2 inches from ground to bottom of fender well on all 4 corners.

I'll go out on a limb here and tell you this car with 1" lowering springs would be approx 27 1/2 on all 4 corners,we just haven't installed them yet for exact measurements.

Hope this helps.
