I have an appointment to have my new rims mounted up tomorrow with cooper cobras 235/60-15. My new rims are 15x8 with 3.75" backspacing. I know all the post say it should be fine but jm still worried if i went too wide for the front of a 84 cutlass. Any thing i should look for problem wise and has any one got pics of a cutlass with this size on the front

I put the 255/60/15 cooper cobras with a 15x7 rim I have on the rear of the Cutlass on the front to see if they would fit.

They only barely rubbed when I went lock to lock on a tight U turn

Should be fine. The 3.75 BS will kick the wheel out a bit over the 4"BS factory wheel. Higher BS moving the wheel in would be higher risk IMO. I had 245/60s on my 15x7 442 wheels with 4"BS and they did not rub in normal driving.

So the car dealership by me took one look at these rims and said no . They couldnt guarantee mounting them without scratching the rim. So i have another appointment now monday with a tire shop a little farther away. Guess i have few more days to wonder about it.

Those wheels have a really deep outer lip is that why they are saying they might scratch them.

I have the same exact wheels, except in 18x9.5. on mine the tires needed to be mounted from the back side because of the "drop" in the hoop of the wheel where one bead of the tire sits while mounting the other side. Any reputable shop should be able to do it easily. If they are nervous, go elsewhere. It's not hard at all.
