Hi Everyone,

I recently got a 78 Malibu Classis with the original 305/th350. I'm currently driving her on a daily baises, and she is in need of a new set up. I been looking around and i found a performance shop that sells engines. I'm looking to get 350-375 hp. I want to run a set up that is reliable and confortable to drive on the road and street. I came to the conclusion that i want a four speed transmission to run with my new engine. Here is an overview of what the new engine set up looks like:

CHEVY 350 — 325 - 327 - 330 HP
4 BOLT MAIN
MIDNIGHT BLACK CRATE ENGINE
BEST STREET DEAL
$2095 basic price for 4 bolt main
(Pricing ranges from $1995 for 2 bolt main to $2295 for 4-bolt main, depending upon upgrades.)

This Power2® Engine combination would be great in your muscle car, street rod, truck, 4x4 or Jeep. NO core required (except in AZ). This engine is a 4-bolt seasoned heavy duty Chevy Small Block. Engine will run on unleaded fuel. Comes completely assembled.

Business or personal checks must clear prior to shipping. Arizona residents must add 8.1% sales tax.

You mean like an MSD or Accel box? I would say no. Your original HEI ignition should do the job just fine.
 
Yeah, the HEI will be fine so long as it is in good condition. Check the advance mechanism to be sure the bushings are good and also check the distributor shaft for excesive play. Install a new distributor gear with assembly lube when you put it in so that they break in and set the proper wear pattern together.
