The “Wife’s bracket Car” is gone. Michelle has decided that she wants a street car (kinda). Replacing the 1980 El Camino is a 1978 Malibu (Classic). Almost all of the drivetrain and suspension will be reused in the new build. I apologize for not doing a better job documenting the build. I’m trying to get it running by spring or early summer.

Here is the car as I purchased it.

Here are some pictures of the disassembly. I was so impressed with this car and became even more so the farther I got into the disassembly. It is absolutely rust free (but not dent free, lol). Even the body bolts still had the black-oxide coating on the bolts

Here’s the frame clean up and paint. Check out the factory paint markings on the rear frame rails.

You're building one of my "someday" cars. Don't let me down. :D

Looks like you started with a really, really solid car. Congrats!

I am not much of a Chevy guy but wow, I have never seen a rear frame that clean, especially on a G body. Yes, that is one of the nicest serpentine set ups I have seen.
