thanks a bunch and noted...It’s not too bad. Get a Haynes or Chiltons manual for the car and it’ll be a big help for you. Also watch a youtube video, some of them go through it step by step.
Id change the old sagging coil springs while you are at it. You will most likely need some tools, spring compressor, etc.
thanks a bunch and noted...
that sounds like a good plan...thanks you much..Knock the old steering linkage out as one piece (disconnect outer tie rods, unbolt the idler, then disconnect the Pitman). Then, assemble all the new stuff and adjust it as close as you can to the old. Install new assembly. Get a ball joint tool.
Thanks I will get themI don’t see control arm bushings or upper cross links in the picture. Those are likely to also be toast at this point. If you are doing ball joints, take care of those too.
Moog K6177, K6176, K6128.
You might need some help with the bushings. Drill or burn out the rubber, then collapse the shell and remove. Ball joint press is an option.
Roger that thanksIf we’re going to throw more of his money at his project, one more good idea is to swap to tall upper ball joints. These will help deal with one major flaw in the GM suspension. Summit has Proform +1” for about $60. And while you have the control arms off, swap out the front springs. Moog 5658 or 5660. You may find they raise your front end - cut off about 1/4 coil off the lower end. White paint splat is up, by the way. And new shocks. It will be brand new car when you’re done.
