Hello! Long time lurker and I’ve finally taken the plunge and got a G Body!

My grandpa bought a 1987 Monte Carlo SS back in ‘87 and I grew up with that car. It was white, hardtop with power everything and burgundy split bench. It was the coolest car I’d ever known. My uncle ended up buying it from him and it’s since sat in his garage, neglected for years. I’ve saved up and thrown the idea around multiple times that I would buy it from him. Sadly he wouldn’t let it go and has since split from contact with the family.

Searching the local OfferUp ads, I finally found what I was looking for! 1988 SS. White, T-Tops, burgundy interior. It’s the most basic I’ve ever seen an SS (manual locks, manual windows, no cruise control) but it is what it is.

I look forward to learning more about these cars and contributing what I can to this great forum.

Welcome from a fellow AZ member! Nice car and looks like a good starting point for a project car.

Plenty of info, good people, and sarcasm when necessary on this forum!

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone! Yeah its pretty solid right now. Did a big tune up and changed out all the archaic vacuum hoses. Looking to work on the interior next and add those missing power features and replace anything damaged. The AZ sun is not kind at all to our interiors.

Welcome aboard! Despite your uncle not wanting to give up your grandpa's Monte, it looks like you found a pretty nice one.
I guess your uncle plans to be buried in it. Every family seems to have one elusive family member.
