I am a Retired Professional Automotive Technician/Mechanic. Worked in a GM Only/Corvette and Performance Specialty Shop from 1976 to 2006, 3.5 years at a Chevy Dealer before that and have worked in different Repair, performance and Hot Rod type shops until I retired August of 2019. I have 2 G body Chevy's, a current project 1986 El Camino with at 350 TPI and 700R4 out of a 89 IROC, Monte SS 3:73 Rear, Hotchkis Suspension components and I am currently making interior changes and adding Dakota Digital RTX Gauge cluster and cleaning up the rats nest wiring. Also making some changes in the engine compartment. I also have a 1979 Malibu that I have had since 1988, it had a 406 TPI with 700R4 and a GN 8.5 with 3:23 gears. Cars has been apart for a long time but I still have it and have plans to rejuvenate it after the Camino is finished. I have had 5 Gbodies over the years. A 1980 Grand Am, a 78 Malibu was mostly driven by my wife while I drove the 73 Chevelle SS which was highly modified and a 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe. The last two just listed had to be sold due to circumstances, Grand Am due to my first born son and the Monte due to a divorce. the 78 I traded for a 74 Vette in the mid 80s. I know these cars quite well but sometimes the Ole memory isn't what it used to be so I ask for a little help here and there. I don't have pictures I can share of all of them but here are the ones I can.

Your under hood contents describe a lot about you - you have the coolest looking GM power plant ever made in both of your cars - Tuned Port Injection.
Are both running a factory ecm?
