I was just referring to the physical dimensions of the block; didn't even consider the mounts. That's how I roll: get a harebrained idea and run headfirst into a wall with it- full speed, no helmet.
That's why we have acetylene tourches and ARC welders isn't it?

okay guys, i might have a lead on a buick 350. Would that bolt up to my Pontiac transmission, and will it use my engine mounts?

Well, it would bolt to the trans, yes. That's all they have in common. Nothing else will work besides a pontiac engine.

So motor mounts and brackets etc.. Would be an issue then huh...
Yes. Hypothetically, if you found a 231 3.8 car (BUICK 3.8, not the Chevy 3.8 which is a 229), you could use the frame mounts, engine mounts, and starter and front accessories from that. But that's a lot more work.
