Im starting my first project car which is a 1984 cutlass supreme. It's my dads and unfortunately it has the 231 V6 in it but im trying to get the V6 running properly so i can drive it and etc until i have money saved up for an LS swap and paint job etc.

However the car will crank sometimes i have to pedel it to get it to start but once the engine is warm or once i put it in gear it stalls and has to be throttled from that point forward just to keep it running. I just changed the PCV valve and the breather element. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated !

Sounds like you need a carb and a tune up

has the car sat for awhile? basics go a long way to even have a good idle...

Turna is right though, sounds like the carb is acting up, make sure your choke is working properly, good fresh gas (if there's a bunch of old gas in the tank, the higher octane the better), and check your wires for any cracking, maybe spray some carb spray around the base of the carb and where the intake meets the heads while it's running (any change of idle means vacuum leak). always start with the basics!

I did put some 93 in there with some fuel system cleaner been running it about 3 times a week and i sprayed some carb cleaner down the throat and i let it sit 2 hours before i went and cranked it maybe ill try that again. Currently looking into the idle control sensor but will def take the carb off and soak it down in some cleaner or maybe some gas

It needs more than a spray of carb cleaner. What you can see ON the carb probably isn't the issue. It what's you can't see IN the carb that's causing the problems
