newbie with question....can rear windows on 4drs be made to go down?

I realize the curve of the door would not allow the window to go all the way down. GM made the backdoor panels have a pocket. That means new flatter door panel.
Newbie to G-bodys, but somewhat handy. Im guessing use the door channel and window track from front doors. Probably new glass a little longer to attach to the track. Has anyone done? Tried? Thanks for not laughing as I'm sure it has been asked.

Asked hundreds of times, many have said they can do it, no one has ever posted results....and here's why....

If you look at the door from the inside, with it open, you'll see the glass goes farther forward than the shell of the door does. It has a kickback to make room for the hinges...so best you could get would be a couple of inches before you ran into obstructions

Instead of dropping straight down, the glass would have to pivot or rotate around an axis or pin, kind of how they did it back in the fifities. Having the necessary room for the glass to do that and getting the mechanism to fit inside the shell would be the tough part.

No they won't. Doors are too thin overall for all the room needed for the actuator, the glass and room for glass stowage.

Just compare cross section of a 70 Impala to and 81 Malibu and you will see why.

On the 69 to 71 Chevy C10 doors are very thin..., so why does the window roll down with out issue.? Notice on those doors, how straight up and down they are?

The rear doors are the same "thickness" as the fronts, which hold all the same components needed for operation. There'd be room, IF they were longer, and didn't have the hinge surface in the way. The glass isn't THAT curved that it would take up all the door cavity
