Nice car for the money...but...

It makes me wonder a little as to why he did a partial 88 H/O kit....seemingly dash plaque and spoiler only. Or did it have the ENTIRE kit installed at some point, drilling holes into the doors/fenders, etc. The bumperettes are chrome, which on a 442 they would be painted. The bumperettes I believe were supposed to be removed for installation of the "kit" lower valances and when they replaced them, they just put chrome ones back on. Much easier to find. I simply suspect that. Not saying that's what happened. Along with the attached H/O emblems, I truly suspect this car used to have the entire kit on it, some people not being careful driving it or other instances caused damage to the lower valances, so the owner said fugg it, and repainted the entire car after getting the holes filled.

Just wondering here. Like I said, nice, clean car with that apparent single flaw in the very awesome paint from the picture, not a huge deal really. A good paint shop can fix that.

AHA! I knew it. But it says the removed pieces come with the car. So if someone was adventurous and wanted to put the stuff back on, they have that option.

But the 6200 bid didn't even make reserve. Wonder what the reserve was. Still a nice car. Seems rust free as well.

A real poor quality dash sticker, a "Lauren engineering" body kit and bone stock factory shifter with a HURST emblem everywhere you look.

It's a nice car no doubt, but that entire "HURST" gimmick is no different then putting a giant TYPE R and coffee can muffler on a ricer.

That's one opinion. But you're about 32 years too late. It was a gimmick back then when it was dreamed up. Doc wanted to stay relevant in the H/O realm and Doc and Action products wanted to make some $$ I guess. Action made go-cart bodies. Didn't work out like he planned. It was never officially sanctioned by GM.

They still rescued this car, though, by taking off the lower part of the kit. I could live with the spoiler. It was the best part of the kit IMO. I like the stance and the look. I'd have painted the bumperettes to match the bumper though. And there's no going back with the double sticky tape on the back of that dash emblem. It would leave some nasty residue behind if you remove it and probably would damage the unobtanium panel on the dash. I wish they wouldn't have done that. But, it wasn't my call.

Grey isn't horrible but single tone paint and a partial H/O makes the value questionable. Go back to factory colours and completely stock or not at all. At this point an Olds 350 or 403 with a beefed up 2004R with better exhaust than the factory restrictive crossover garbage setup would make it more valuable IMHO. Keep all the pieces to sell with car, as is far from original anyways, might as well be fun. Kind of like keeping the exhaust manifolds on a W31, Olds knew racers would remove them almost immediately so why bother to make better factory ones that fit a very limited numbers car. Too bad some tweaking wasn't done to the 88 H/O kit, the front bumper was probably why it never saw the light of day. Too bad the kit wasn't modified along with the FE3X Ram Air hood/ air intake and it's exhaust mods were done along with it's T-5, Hurst shifted of course. It would have been probably been a 15 second flat in the 1/4 car, a fitting end to H/O. Go out with a bang, not just disappeared never to return.

I’m NOT a “ stock purist “ at all, but when your talking about an era ( 75-90s ) where even 99% of factory special appeal vehicles weren’t much more than stripe kits, 2 tones, and gimmicks. I’d leave the outside alone other than an EXTRA HOOD AND WHEELS/TIRES. That guy got rid of almost everything that made that car special/different from the grocery getter crowd . I wouldn’t hesitate one minute to upgrade everything mechanical. But if I had a 442, HO, GN . I’d atleast leave it stock looking.
