Hello, recently acquired a 1978 Oldsmobile cutlass wagon. It has no brake lights, no blinkers, no 4 way flashers. Got under the dash and no brake light switch at all. Found the plug and no power to the orange wire. Where does it get power from? I checked all fuses first and all good. I’m not much on electrical issues,, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The orange wire is circuit 140 goes through the Stop/Haz fuse and is fed by the number 2 circuit the 12 Ga Red wire that goes thru the bulkhead connector and is one of the fuseable links. The 4-way flasher is also fed from that fuse and circuit 140. Circuit 2 also feeds the headlamp switch.

Turn signal flasher is circuit 75 the dark blue wire fed from the Turn/BU fuse and that fuse is fed by the number 3 circuit the 12 Ga pink wire from the ignition switch then to the bulkhead connector to the other fuseable link. Circuit 75 also provides power for the backup light switch circuit. Circuit 3 is also the power for the distributor.

See if there is +12V at both sides of those those fuses with the fuses installed. If not you likely have a burned up fuseable link or two.

Both the fuseable links power other things, does the headlight switch do anything? What happens when you turn on the key?

Check all fuses with a volt meter or a test light. Make sure you don't have any missing fuses. At this stage make sure 4 ways are off. We will get to that later. Get your brake switch in and make sure it gets adjusted properly.
