So I cut out the sheet metal, ordered another washer and decided to use 1/8 inch plate instead of sheet metal. This worked a lot better. Super solid now! So that means that the frame is now totally fixed. Next work session will be bolting the body down in the rear with the new body mounts. Then I can paint the frame inside with the Eastwood internal frame coating, the outside with SEM Rust trap. Then I can paint the under side of the trunk floor with bed coating, reinstall the restored gas tank with new sending unit and replace the fuel lines. Then it will run!

Finally finished the frame welding on Sunday. About half finished grinding. Got off at 1:30 today and got the internal frame coating on the rear frame rails. This is some good stuff! Got it from Eastwood. Used 1 can on the frame rails in the rear. Only did the flat parts in the rear and the arch up over the rear axle. Definitely getting some more for the rest of the frame!!

2 steps forward, one step back! While grinding I found some weak sports around the patches I had done. Wasn’t happy with it so I just cut it all out. It’s a lot stronger then it would have been with the little patches! Before-

it’s coming along, slowly but surely.

I have a custom graphics place next door to work, talked with him about making a decal for my center caps. Here’s where I got the idea from

Starting to get the big stuff done and out of the way. Here’s the before on the frame. I’ll have the after soon. Gotta dress the welds, they are very ugly. My welder is on its last legs and would not give me consistent wire speed. So just a sh*t ton of spot welds. I used 1/8” plate to make the patches. Probably double the thickness of the stock frame!

I don't think that is rust. I'm thinkin like REALLY BIG termites.
