This is more of a during, almost an after! Welder is doing a little better. But it’s not at the same time. I have a little more grinding and about 3 spots to touch up!

Also got the trunk floor wire wheeled and primed, and got my tank straps and fuel lines painted. As soon as I seem seal and bed coat the trunk floor above the tank, I can install the new sending unit and rubber lines and it will run again. Then on to body mounts!

So I was tired of grinding welds so I decided to knock out the body mounts. I just did the ones on the rad support and the 3 under the passenger compartment. I got VERY lucky as these all came loose! No rust or broken cage nuts ( at least here). The bolts in the # 3 position looked new except for the heads! The only problem I had was lifting the body. I made one of these after reading how to’s here.

So my problems started here. The wood kept compressing an slipping. I dented the rockers a little on both sides. It really started to piss me off. So I came up with this -

It’s a cut down t-bar fence post. It worked wonderfully! No slippage, the tabs on the bottom kept it centered on jack and no deflection, it just worked!

Next weekend I’ll start on the ones under the trunk. Only 1 bolt and cage nut are there, on the drivers side rear. I have to put a frame washer on the passenger side behind the rear tire, and cut the floor in the trunk to replace the cage nuts. I have frame washers and cage nuts. I also had the new bolt kit from Mikes Montes. Quality kit right there. Here is the kit I used and pic of the mounts and a few bolts.

Also installed the # 5 bushing. Had this from the factory in that position. It’s upside down in the pic, but I was surprised there was anything there!

Now getting down to the fun part! Passenger side cage nuts where GONE! As you can see in 1st pic. Have no fear, I knew they needed some love, so I ordered frame washers and nut plates. The front one I ended up cutting and actually used a frame washer on the floor and added metal around it. I’m going to weld the nut plate to the washer. I had to add some metal to the side of the frame under before I welded the frame washer to the frame. Can’t get the body any higher, so welding it in is tough! I got what I could from the top and the rest from the bottom. Started to rain so I’ll finish up in the next few weekends. Only 1 to do on the drivers side and the body mounts will be DONE!!!!

Also got the new wheels on the front. 2 things, I am doing the blazer swap so the dust caps will not matter. Also the car is still on jack stands so won’t see how much wheel well space there will be until is back on the ground.
