Everyone I have a question I have a 1980 Buick Regal 3.8 L and oil pan has a hole that's not threaded and is not drain plug hole can anybody enlighten me on what this hole is for? I appreciate it thanks.
It's underneath.Side? Bottom? In sump or somewhere else?
Dipstick entrance?
So it's on the bottom of the oil pan that's not threaded or reinforced occasionally it does leak. do you think I should plug it? I was going to but I didn't know if it was supposed to remain open like that.Is it reinforced around the hole? I've seen 1987+ SBC oil pans with a hole about halfway up from the sump for a level sensor. If it's reinforced, you can see if it is close to a tapped hole size and fit it with a plug.
Or, add a turbo kit to the engine and use this hole for the turbo oil return line!
