That was...odd. surprising that they put it up against other GM A-bodies rather than the Fairlane and, say, a Charger or even a Marlin. And why did the Chevelle stop 3 car lengths shorter than the GTO?

Also, it's unnerving to realize that the chick in the cage shaking her junk is probably pushing 80 now.

Would be nice when looking for a new car to have to choose between GTO, 396 SS, F85, Riviera GS...would even take the Ford GS!

The Marlin wasn't in the same zip code as a SS396 in 1966, and the Charger didn't come out until 1966, so if this was filmed in the fall of 1965 or early 1966, they may not have been able to get a hold of a new Charger. If the Charger had the Hemi, it would have wasted the SS396 in the 1/4 mile and top speed, so maybe that was better left ignored.

Did SS396's get front Disc brakes std? that would explain the braking distance if they did.

It was kinda hokey, but entertaining never the less. Dated humor, for sure. I thought it was kinda funny and fun at the same time. I would've thought the GTO would have cleaned the Chevelles clock.
