What do you all do with old, replaced parts? I'm no pack rat, and would rather not keep parts lying around, but can't shake the feeling that I shouldn't just get rid of parts from my Monte... Factory crossmember, control arms, springs, manifolds, radiator, etc... Do you just scrap them, sell them, keep them, or what?

Hey Jeff from Winnipeg, Kyle here just 3 hours NW of you. Lol

Yeah I will be having the same dilemma with my sons 80 442. Are these cars going to be valuable in years to come?
If so, and the original parts can't be located, will drop the value drastically.
IMO
garbage in the garbage can the 100,000 dollar question is what is considered garbage best of luck in the new year be safe Jeff from Winnipeg

Hey Kyle happy new year still have those rims if you are interested in them can't wait to see the car and compare it to my boring all original 1980 442 all the best . I would be keeping crossmembers springs control arms radiators manifolds if you have the space

Nope. Stuff that can be bought new like control arms, radiators, springs, or easily bought from other cars that are similar like SBC manifolds either get scrapped (springs) or sold (control arms) for dirt track people if they work.

Nobody cares if you have stock control arms on a 68 Chevelle 283 car that you swapped a rowdy BBC into and a 68 Chevelle will always be worth more than a G body. If it is a plane jane 305 CL monte or 307 cutlass nobody will ever care.

Numbers matching MIGHT (unlikely) matter for a Hurst, or Turbo Buick, but that is a stretch. If someone wants to replace a dual exhaust crossmember with a single exhaust factory crossmember in 20 years on an 84 Hurst/Olds that had headers put on in 2005 can just find a crossmember from a plane jane 307 car and nobody will ever know the difference.

put them in a box wrapped in left over christmas paper and place them outside.

or maybe we need to set up g body depositories in each state and provence, where we can drop off and pick up used parts for free.

Or, put them in Amazon boxes on the front porch, and wait for someone to take them!

Oh geez I forgot about those. Yeah I am home for a bit, thinking on slipping into Winnipeg and visit Jeff to see how my BRF trans is coming along. Pick up the spare parts and see if someone needs the stock guts from it.
I will have to swing by. You still have my number?

Sometimes I reuse them for other purposes. I use some old parts to represent old mining junk in my outdoor railway. Other times I reuse them for homemade Halloween decorations. If you know how to weld, you could make art out of your old pieces.
