Guy i know is selling his olds 330 for a decent price. I have heard it run. Im curious to know if anyone is running a 330 in their cutlass or whatever. Heard its a good street motor as it sits. Im looking for feedback on motor, pros/cons & suggestions. I know much about 350s but not 330s My research just say its a nice motor. Im looking for the but . . .?

You would like the 330 I'd think. They were basically Olds version of the 327 Chevy. They made good power, had a light crank, & were higher revving than a 350. I'd get it if its a good running engine for a fair price. Not many left.

They all have forged steel crankshafts. They are nearly indentical to a 350 except bore and cam bank angle. Some can be bored enough to take a standard 350 piston. You gain a good amount over a 307, more cubes, higher compression and better heads.

I had one in my car when I bought it. It was good solid running engine. I had an edelbrock intake and edwlbrock 600cfm carb. It had some get up and go to it for sure....plus the crank is good to use in a 350 block because its forged. Mine was 1967 and was a factory 4bl engine.

The 330 cranks and flywheels are VERY desirable. A good std/std crank with the flywheel alone typically sell for $300 or more. As already noted, they are the strongest factory small block olds crank. Alot of guys use them in Olds 350 and 403's.

I heard about the cranks and how desirable they were and this one is unmolested

Pick it up!

The 330: Had 3.9385" Bore x 3.385" Stroke, forged cranks, which require different flexplate/flywheel, and will accept 0.060" over 350 Olds pistons (for a total 0.120-0.125" overbore) came in Cutlass's and Jetstar 88's.
Block: If 1 or 1A casting it's a 45* lifter angle, 2 block (#394417) will have 39* so you can the more popular later cams.
Heads: Recommend changing them to #3-4-5-6 heads ('66-70) for valve train components. But as long as you stay with #2-#7 heads your ok.
Intake: The 4brl was machined for a Rochester 4GC carb, not Quadrajet. But later 350 Olds Quadrajet intake will fit, or even go with the Edelbrock Performer
