So I have a 1984 cutlass somewhere down the line someone dropped an olds 350 in the car and I’m looking to do a 4 speed transmission swap and I don’t know much about what I all need. So far I have a olds bell houseing and a saginaw 4 speed. Looking for a list of what else I all need and places I can get them. Help would be greatly appreciated

All of the pedals and shift linkage are available from Original Parts Group. I have a stock (ITM) shifter complete with shift arms you can have, just pay the shipping. PM me if you want it. I wouldn't use it. It's worn out. I replaced it with a Hurst Competition Plus. They have been discontinued so one might be hard to find and might be pricey. It's the only way to go with a Saginaw, in my book. I'm not sure what else is out there for a shifter.

There is a company that makes the rods from the pedal to Z bar and from the Z Bar to the fork with spherical rod ends, which is a nice upgrade.

You also might want the "hump" to add to the tunnel for the shifter. I think Original Parts Group (OPGI) has it too.

OPGI is pretty pricey so check out "The Parts Place" as well.

Summit sells some OPGI stuff as well and you might find some of this stuff used on eBay.

I converted my El C and was able to get a pedal kit, bell crank and all I needed relatively easy. Drive shaft and original crossmember fit, Just to make it easier take the steering column out for room. I didn't but wish I had. There were dimples in the frame for the bellcrank to be mounted and the firewall for the clutch arm boot.

Most Olds V8's cranks are not drilled for a pilot bushing as the majority were automatic's from the factory. You can go bearing or bushing. There is a bushing that works for the undrilled auto crank but the trans input needs shortened. What is the first gear ratio in the trans and rear gear ratio? What year 350 and what mods if any?

Did you get the correct bellhousing for an BOP powered G? Gotta remember they repositioned the fork stud to make up for the tighter space between the frame & bellhousing.

You also have to make sure the block is drilled for the bell crank unless you fashion a hydraulic clutch

Guys, I'm bringing this thread back up because I'm in the same boat. I'm doing a 4 speed conversion on my 78 Olds Cutlass Aeroback, and don't know enough about it. I need to make sure I'm on the right track.

Main concerns - Crankshaft drilled for pilot bushing.
- Block drilled for bell crank.
The original poster has an Olds 350 that typically came with an automatic. My car will have a 403, which many were installed in Trans Ams, with a manual transmission. So can you guys confirm that I do, or do not, have these provisions from the pics below?

Can you 4 speed guys check this list for me? I appreciate it. Looking forward to having a manual in one of my GBody's :giggle:
