Olds 350 question

So I ran across a olds 350
#'s 557752 3B
With 3 A heads
I can pick it up for 200 bucks
Just want to know if it's worth it.
would be just a street car engine nothing crazy

If you're replacing a 307, $200 would be a no-brainer for me.

Always liked the olds motors. Had a 403 in a TA and it didn't have a lot of horsepower but sure made good torque.

for 200 bucks I do it, It's a 77-79 350 75cc heads nothing special but a good start. I had 1 from a 79 HO with the heads shaved some, ran good. Kept up with a new .10 over SBC 350 in an A body

If you put the 5A heads on it you would bump up that compression nicely

 

[olds307 and 403]

You can put on 5A heads, they will bolt right on, bump compression and don't have the cracking issues the 3A heads have. But they have small 1.75 intake valve and ports. At least put 1.875" intake valves from the 3A heads and open the bowl underneath. The exhaust is awful on all "A" heads with a small 1.5" valve. Add a 1.56 exhaust valve from early heads, open the bowl and port work will help. Mill them .010" to end up with 9 to 1 compression.
